You Can Now Airbnb Harry Potter’s Godric’s Hollow Childhood Home

Potterheads assemble – there’s another iconic Wizarding World location popping up for you to stay in. The house which stood in for Harry Potter’s childhood home in the fictional Godric’s Hollow is now listed on Airbnb as a stay.

The house, named de Vere House in reality, is located in Lavenham, a medieval village in Suffolk, under two hours’ drive north-west of London. The house was home to the rich and powerful de Vere family from the 14th to the 17th centuries.

Two aspects of the house can be seen when Harry and Hermione travel to Godric’s Hollow in the film. One is the ruined Potter house, as well as the nearby housefront featuring a Christmas tree and carollers.

The Airbnb listing for de Vere house, which is listed for AU$205.87, offers a private room in the house, featuring four-poster beds and a shared bathroom, as well as breakfast included. Not sure where the Wizarding World is up to with adopting wifi, but the house offers it included, as well as a TV and access to a guest sitting room with a log fire and a courtyard garden. Quaint!

The village itself is popular with travellers, with a medieval church, several restaurants and a strong contingent of antique and craft shops.

While the house was the site of grim events in the Harry Potter universe, we’re sure your stay will be far more relaxing – but do keep an eye out for megalomaniac dark wizards. The robes and attitude tend to give them away.
