Gauvin says, “Although the Hungarian Parliament looks fantastic from every angle, to see the whole building in its full glory, it is worth viewing it from the other side of the Danube. The view from the Fisherman’s Bastion is amazing, especially for sunset because you have a 180 degrees view over the city. At “blue hour” the impressive building is illuminated in a golden glow and it is reflecting in the Danube river. It takes a magic dimension, and shows all the prestige of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.”
“If I had to recommend one museum in Budapest, my number one choice will be the Museum of Applied Arts. The building itself is one of the most beautiful examples of Art Nouveau, and was designed by Lechner Ödön in 1896. Budapest’s Lechner is compared to Barcelona’s Gaudi in terms of architectural design genius.”

River Danube
On his trip to Budapest, Gauvin Lapetoule captured the city in all its rich historical, intensely magical spirit. “Budapest was on my radar for what seems like an eternity. Cheap and historically rich, much of the city has been granted UNESCO World Heritage Site status,” he told AWOL. “As an architecture lover, the [Hungarian] capital is also one the top city-break destinations in Europe. It is definitely a city which demands your attention.”
