Melbourne, things are looking up. You can slowly start making your way outside again, even with a couple of friends. Best of all, 5000 of you can nab yourself a free Stomping Ground Brewing Co. beer on June 1.
Yup, they’re as ready to share that first post-COVID lockdown beer with you as you are with them.
Named the Stomping Ground 5K, this campaign has 50 different venues participating across the city, including the likes of Neighbourhood Wine, Old Palm Liquor, Mt Erica Hotel, Bar Romantica and Marquis of Lorne hotel.
Basically, you sign up via their website (here’s the link), then you head into any of the participating bars and pubs to claim your free beer. I’d sign up bloody quick smart if I were you — 5000 sounds like a lot but it’s really not when you consider that everyone has been stuck inside for months.
“Melbourne’s hospitality industry is an integral part of what makes our city one of the best places to live in the world,” said Guy Greenstone, co-founder of Stomping Ground Brewing Co.
“We know how much the industry is struggling right now, but also how much Melburnians are looking forward to that very first beer back at the pub. So, we wanted to facilitate this.”
He’s not wrong, with the tourism industry being one of the most impacted by the measures put in places to reduce the impact of coronavirus. Obviously, it was all necessary and important, but golly I’m ready to get out there and sit in a pub again.
“It’s been a really challenging time for all pubs and bars throughout Australia, and we couldn’t be more excited to be opening our doors again on Monday 1 June,” said Will Benjamin, the 0wner of Marquis of Lorne. “We jumped on board to be part of [Stomping Ground 5K], to thank all our loyal customers who have supported us over the last weeks.”
In summary: bars and pubs open, free beer, June 1, get the hell on it!
