The 3800-sqaure-metre space is enormous, kitted out with huge bowls, empty swimming pools, specially designed runs, bars to grind on – everything a great skate park could ever need. And as it should, costing a whopping €1.8 million (AU$2.9 million) and 13 years to complete.

Best of all, the park is suitable for skaters at any skill level, with carefully designed runs tailored for everyone from beginners to pros.

Since Skate Park Eller officially opened on June, 30 the park has received some serious rave reviews, and skaters, BMX and rollerbladers from all around the world have flocked to Düsseldorf to try it for themselves.

The park will be truly christened, however, when professional skaters take to the concrete and compete in the 2018 German Skateboarding Championships on September 12 to 16, competing for a €20,000 (AU$32,000) grand prize.

You’ll find Skate Park Eller right next to the beautiful Eller Schlosspark, and it’s open to visitors from 9am until 9pm daily.
