5 Secret Disney Recipes To Make Your Kitchen The Happiest Place On Earth
Kassia is the Editor of AWOL, and a straight-up travel…
Our own worlds have certainly gotten somewhat smaller after all in the last few months, which means that a trip to Disneyland –or the U.S.A. at all for that matter — is definitely off the cards for the time being. That doesn’t mean you can’t bring the happiest place on earth into your own kitchen, though.
You can re-watch your favourite Disney movies, of course. Or have a sing-a-long to your favourite soundtracks — a thing I personally do on a daily basis and I refuse to be judged for it. You can even watch the famous Disneyland parade on your computer screen.
Now, you can have more than a little taste of #parklyf because Disney has continued to bring the rest of us joy by releasing a bunch of their most popular recipes from around their theme parks.
If you’ve never been to Disneyland, let me just tell you that this is the Holy Grail of comfort food.
#1 Mickey Mouse Beignets
Much like the famous Beignets you’ll find inNew Orleans, but in the shape of the famous mouse himself. Normally, you’d pick these bad bois up from Disneyland’s New Orleans Square and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort French Quarter, but for now you can whip them up yourself. Recipe here.
#2 Toy Story Land Grilled Three-Cheese Sandwich
My first ever trip through America (at least, since I was old enough to remember it), taught me that I’d been doing grilled cheese ALL wrong. Recreate this beauty from Woody’s Lunch Box at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and you’ll start to see what I mean. One type of cheese is simply not enough. Recipe here.
#3 Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Banana, French Toast
I’m not going to lie, this recipe looks like a WHOLE lot. Combining the American go-to of choccie, peanut butter and banana with what is already a delightful dish on its own, French Toast. Honestly, I don’t even know how to feel about this mammajamma, except that I want to taste it. Recipe here.
#4 Disney Parks Churro Bites
I honestly couldn’t tell you the number of churros I consumed during my one-day trip to Disneyland, but I can tell you it was a LOT and they were bloody delicious. At the park, I obviously got as many Mickey Mouse-shaped churros as I could, but to keep things a little simpler, Disney have released their bite-sized version. Recipe here.
#5 Plant-Based Cookie Fries
Yes, you read that correctly, this is a recipe for cookie fries. It’s one of three plant-based options served at the Beaches & Cream Soda Shop in Disney’s Beach Club Resort. I love an inclusive recipe that’ll allow vegans to join in the indulgence. I also enjoy a cookie in easy-to-bite stick form. Recipe here.
I have to be honest, my mouth is quite literally watering just from writing about this food. It may not be Disneyland, but apparently my sense of taste can’t tell. I could swear I’m even smelling churros.
