A Cruise Through Alaska, Canada, & Greenland Is Coming In 2023, And It’s The Adventure We Crave
There are ‘cruises’, that conjure up images of over 50’s swing dancing, too many cocktails and spending as little time as possible onshore. Then, there are ‘cruises‘ that only the most adventurous need apply to. The latter is coming in 2023.
Hurtigruten — known for their sustainable expedition cruises — has revealed a new flagship voyage following the path of famous Norwegian explorer, Roald Amundsen, along the Northwest Passage.
What is the Northwest Passage, you ask?
It’s a route between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans that goes through the Arctic Ocean and along the northern coast of North America — passing Greenland, the top of Canada and over to Alaska.
This is no standard cruise, as it’s known to be one of the most challenging stretches of water to navigate — needing to make your way around ice floes and a lot of smaller islands. So you’re going where only really hardcore explorers have gone before.
Is it worth it? Hell yes.
Between the untouched natural beauty and local history and culture along the way, it’ll be a pretty one-of-a-kind adventure.
This 26-day cruise takes you from Gold Rush town, Nome, in Alaska through the Bering Strait, Chukchi Sea, Beaufort Sea, and the Amundsen Gulf before arriving at Halifax, Nova Scotia.

You’ll be on board with a team of experts covering biology and wildlife, an archaeologist a pro photographer and Inuit cultural interpreters.
You’ll also be on board a small, more sustainable, battery hybrid-powered expedition cruise ship that uses green technology to cut CO2 emissions by 20 percent.
