Bubble Tea Festival: A 4-Day Festival Is Coming To Melbourne Central

Bubble tea has well and truly taken over and I, for one, welcome our new tapioca overlords. If you’re another faithful convert and also in Melbourne, you can go along to a four-day bubble tea festival that’s kicking off this Friday.

Coinciding with Lunar New Year, Australia’s first-ever Bubble Tea Festival will have limited-edition flavours, cute-as-hell boba merch and plenty of tunes.

All the bubble tea retailers in Melbourne Central are coming together for the festival with some weird, wonderful and exclusive flavours. Try the taro smoothie at Gong Cha, frozen honeydew at Chatime, strawberry cheese at Heekcha, sakura lychee at Gotcha, a tropical number at Gyoza Gyoza and a lychee cocktail boba at B. Lucky & Sons.

Once you’ve worked your way through all the specials, browse the Bubble Mart for a cute little souvenir. Earrings, enamel pins, keychains, sticker sheets, Airpod cases and tote bags are all up for grabs. You’ll need to grab a tea first — each drink purchase will get you a handful of Boba Tokens to redeem at the market.

If that’s not enough, there’ll be live music and DJ sets throughout the festival. You can also enter an online competition to win two business class tickets to Beijing.

The Bubble Tea Festival runs from January 24 to 27. Entry is free — just head to your fave bubble tea retailer inside Melbourne Central to start your fun.
