This Australian Beach Was Just Voted The Second Best In The World

There’s no doubt about it: Australia is home to some of the best beaches in the world. From idyllic bays and turquoise lagoons to mile-long beaches and world-famous surf breaks, we’ve got it all.

We’ve always known it, but now it’s official, with six Aussie destinations making the cut in FlightNetwork‘s 2018 lineup of the top 50 beaches in the world — and one of them ranking second.

Coming in at number two for the second year in a row was Whitehaven Beach in The Whitsundays. No surprises there, as the Queensland beach is internationally known for its pristine white sands and azure waters. In case you’re curious which beach could possibly beat this slice of paradise, it’s Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos.

Also making the list is Blinky Beach on Lord Howe Island at number 30, Hyams Beach in New South Wales’ Jervis Bay at number 33 and Tasmania‘s Wine Glass Bay at 44. Western Australia also made the list twice, with Lucky Bay placing 35th and Cable Beach at 34th.

As well as the World’s Best Beaches, FlightNetwork  also released a list of the World’s Top 50 Untouched Beaches — featuring Tasmania’s Wine Glass Bay at fourth and Binalong Bay at 19th — and the World’s Top 50 City Beaches, with Sydney’s Bondi Beach in the top spot, Surfers Paradise Beach in Queensland at 11 and NSW’s Manly Beach at 12.

Turns out, it’s not just one person who goes around testing beaches for FlightNetwork’s list (if there was, we’d want that job!) Rather, they consult more than 1200 travel experts, including journalists, editors, bloggers and travel agencies. You can check out the list in its entirety here.
