Here’s When To Send Your Chrissie Parcels To Make Sure Your Loved Ones Get Them In Time
A lot of things have been thrown into chaos since Covid became a common word in our vernacular, and Australia Post was no different.
Anyone who fell prey to dealing with their trauma by online shopping during the first lockdown will have noticed the post took yonks. It seems like it got better, but then Melbourne’s second wave hit and for some reason Sydney is back to waiting many extra weeks for their mail.

Acknowledging they’re having a hard time keeping up, Australia Post has released their final lodgement dates if you want your parcels to arrive in time for Christmas.
“We’re working hard to deliver your letters and parcels, but delivery for Christmas will take longer this year as we manage the impacts of COVID-19 and more parcels than ever before,” says their website.
“Sending as early as possible… means your letters and parcels will have the best chance of arriving in time for Christmas”.
While last year the domestic cut off for regular post to arrive in time for Christmas was December 17, this year it’s December 12. The 2020 express post deadline is Saturday 19.

If your parcel is heading overseas, you’d better start getting organised quick smart, with regular post cut offs being set for mid to late November, depending on the country you’ll be posting to. It’ll be a late November to early December cut off for express international post. You can get the full international break down here.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that if you miss the deadline your post will just be chucked in the bin. “We’ll still deliver items sent after these dates as quickly as possible,” explains Australia Post, “but it will be difficult to get them to their destinations by Christmas”.
So better start checking that Christmas list twice if you’re cut off from your family and friends this year.
