The Adelaide Central Market is an institution, acting as a thriving hub of food and culture for over 150 years. It’s the queen of Adelaide markets.

There are more than 70 traders under the one roof, offering a huge range of fresh food including fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, seafood, cheeses, bakery, smallgoods and health foods, along with some of Adelaide’s most popular cafes and eateries.

It’s the largest undercover fresh produce market in the southern hemisphere and welcomes more than nine million visitors every year.

You could spend forever wandering its stalls, but food tours are also available if you’re after a more informed visit, where you’ll learn about the history and importance of the markets.

When? Open every day except Sunday and Monday (times vary)

Keen to pick up some totally unique finds? Look no further than the Brighton Sunday Market.

Here, local sellers drive their cars to the local high school and sell whatever they’ve brought out of and around their cars. You’ll find everything at these Adelaide markets from chic, vintage clothing to rare collectables.


You’ll never be certain of what’s available, but you’re sure to go home with something you adore.

When? The Brighton Sunday Market is held on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.

You’ll find the Fishermen’s Wharf Markets near the lighthouse at Port Adelaide – the ultimate spot to enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the dolphins play off the shore.

The markets have run for more than 20 years, and offer vibrant mix of stalls, sights, food and sounds that everyone will enjoy.

When? 9am to 5pm every Sunday (as well as public holidays that fall on a Monday).

Where? Black Diamons Square, Port Adelaide.

Looking for a little market action after dark? Hit up the Adelaide Night Market.

Adelaide Night Market is a foodie and crafty market featuring the flavours of the world. It’s got the city’s best street food alongside an array of artisan, clothing, jewellery, cultural goods and local gourmet produce.


The market is a place to kick back, relax and finish off the weekend the best way possible.

When? The last Sunday of the month (seasonal – check the Facebook page for dates)

Where? Karrawirra Parri, River Torrens Adelaide.

It’s exactly what it sounds like – a place for local farmers to showcase and sell their produce.
