You Need To Swim In This Natural Infinity Pool In Mexico

The Mexican town of Oaxaca is a great one. Known for its culinary and art scenes, its indigenous heritage and its colourful buildings, you could spend weeks getting lost in its charming cobblestoned streets, with the looming green surrounding mountains backdropping your every move. Up into these mountains is where you should head if you want to experience one of the best natural wonders Mexico has to offer.

Just an hour and 10 minute drive out of the city, you’ll find these cliff top bathing pools that overlook a lush valley in San Lorenzo Albarradas. A narrow and winding road will lead you to the top of the mountain where endless panoramas and a refreshing dip are your reward.
Sitting on a rock shelf about 90 metres above the valley, these turquoise pools are the perfect spot to take in that breathtaking view. Taking a dip is a given here: the water is warm and bubbling and omits soothing minerals that are said to be great for the skin.
It’s like nature’s very own infinity pool.

Possibly the best part is that these magical pools are right beside a petrified waterfall, though this stunning vista isn’t actually a waterfall at all – it’s a set of rock formations that, over time, have come to resemble cascading water.

If you’re up for the hike, there are paths across the valley that lead down the side of the mountain to the base of the petrified falls, offering a killer photo op of this natural wonder.

Definitely one for the bucket list.
