Adelaide is buzzing right now – and Instagram is taking notice. Known for vineyard-dotted hills that spill into the sea, an enviable foodie culture, and more recently, a renaissance, this city is totally on trend.
If you like your breakfast for lunch and succulents for your coffee dates, here are six cafes you should know about, from one ‘gramming aficionado to another.

On a leafy, unassuming street in suburban Stepney, you’ll find a haven of nourishment. The interior styling is on point, the coffee is strong, and the staff are sweet.
Run by aunty/niece duo Tina and Katie, staff at The Nourish’d Kitchen ask you to think of them as your very own food PA – making it uncomplicated to eat healthy, locally-sourced, seasonal fare. Step inside real-life Pinterest, and line up for a serve of radiance.

#2 Penny University
If Penny University actually took enrolments, I’d graduate with a Masters. But, in all seriousness, this place – nestled in Adelaide’s East End Precinct – is a goodie. The vibe is equal parts kitsch, hipster and cosy, the staff are rad, and fresh blooms are placed on tables just so. You’ll want to photograph this place, inside and out.

#3 La Moka
If happiness is a yellow cup, then this establishment is like walking into pure sunshine. La Moka is an Italian-inspired cafe and aperitivo bar, and is on-trend without trying too hard. Short blacks are happily served alongside Campari, and we’re kinda into it.

#4 The Flinders Street Project
As soon as you walk into this light-flooded nook, you’ll look up. Suspended from the ceiling of The Flinders Street Project are 10,000 wooden spoons (not that I’ve counted).
This inner-city oasis is the perfect place to order a coffee and prop yourself at the windowsill, or make new friends seated around the main communal table, which naturally features succulents. It’s a tiny space, so expect a line.

#5 Pickle In The Middle
With its minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired interior, all plywood and pops of bright yellow, it’s impossible to not smile when you’re here. Pickle in the Middle boasts a plant-centric menu and all-day breakfast.

#6 Loose Caboose
A railway station-turned-cafe? Yes, really. The Loose Caboose is not new, but it’s a brunch institution and still a favourite for picture-perfect coffee dates. There’s a green wall, clocks telling the times of faraway countries, sparkling water on tap, and cobalt blue coffee cups.
Sombreros and sunscreen are provided when it’s sunny, so order the smashed avocado, sit out on the deck and you won’t be anything but happy.
