While some Los Angeles experiences can be a little overhyped – we’re looking at you Hollywood Boulevard and Rodeo Drive – there’s a few typical tourist places that we reckon are still worth a go. Sure they might be a little cliché, but who doesn’t love a classic?

#1 Live out your childhood fantasy at Disneyland
Too cool for a trip to ‘the happiest place on earth’? Think again. This place is adult heaven – think crazy fast rides, heaps of greasy food and a nostalgia trip that will make your heart soar. Walking through Disneyland might be a little like playing dodgem cars with a hoard of screaming children but just walk with your head held high and make a bee-line for Space Mountain. You won’t regret it.

#2 Take a dip in the iconic rooftop pool at the Ace
There’s nothing like a cheeky dip in a rooftop pool – it’s even better when your view is of the sprawling LA landscape and you’re surrounded by cooler than cool Los Angelenos chillaxing on their lounge chairs. Ah, heaven.
#3 Ponder the great abyss at Griffith Observatory
Arguably the best view in LA, Griffith is a go-to tourist spot for a reason. Wander around the observatory to see Los Angeles in all it’s glory but don’t forget to pop inside the building to see a mammoth collection of space and science related goodies including the Tesla coil, the Samual Oschin planetarium theatre and heaps of info on the cosmos. Your ninth grade science teacher will love you.
#4 Catch an NBA game
It’s a no-brainer – Americans love their sport, and a game of basketball is the most exciting type. Head over to the Staples Centre for a bit of loud music, celebrity spotting, a big crowd and an even bigger game of basketball. Now, the hardest question: Lakers or Clippers?
#5 Cruise along Venice Beach
You can always count on a good amount of sun at Venice Beach, and with your choice of volleyball nets, surfing spots or the sand to laze on, you really can’t go wrong. Sure it’s a little overcrowded at times, but cruising down the strip with an ice cream in hand on a 35 degree day? That’s perfection.
#6 Have a burger at In-N-Out
Come on, you have to.
