Riddle Your Way Out Of These 19 Epic Escape Rooms Across Australia

Whether you’re into Halloween or not, escape rooms are a pretty fun activity any time of year. There’s just something so thrilling about being locked in a room, forced to solve your way out while the clock ticks.

But while we can’t escape the hell of 2020 or even attend a party in our most extra Halloween costume, we can pay people to put us in elaborate situations where we can enjoy the illusion that we have some level of control again.

Here are solids options around Australia (and yes, they’re open unless specified).

If you’re after something in the city, Next Level Escape has four rooms (reviews praise Ex Libris) and for those wanting to take a trip, Social Escape Rooms in Alexandria has four rooms, two of which include a holiday in Paris and a murder mystery in Victorian London.

Further out, there is Elude in Galston (north of Dural in the Hills District) and Scram Escape Rooms Parramatta (who have a room called The Wizard Chambers for Harry Potter fans).

Ukiyo in Brunswick, Melbourne isn’t your standard escape room experience – meaning ‘floating worlds’ in Japanese, these exceptionally designed and executed Japanese-themed story rooms are an immersive trip to another realm (and the reviews confirm). Please note: Ukiyo is temporarily closed so keep an eye on their website.

Escape Rooms Melbourne has seven rooms across its outposts in Flemington, South Melbourne and Geelong, created by two psychology PHDs.

Right in the city, Escape Manor is Brisbane’s top rated escape room and even has a Halloween experience called Blackout. Nearby, Europe’s top escape room company has brought their experience to Brissy with Fox in a Box, operating on the George Bernard Shaw motto, “we don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.”

Padlockd Escape Rooms in Surfers Paradise is good, challenging fun with four rooms including a carnival and a haunted toy store.

Tassie has officially reopened, so pop these on your list. Escape Launceston offers three rooms spanning witchcraft and wizardry, a Roswell Area 51 mystery and a Da Vinci room. But its location is handy, too seeing as it’s in the Launceston Lanes centre. If any from your group get cold feet there’s plenty else to do.

Meanwhile, Evolo Room Escape in Hobart also has three room options in a classy set up.
