Yes! Melbourne’s Dachshund Race Is Back For Another Year

It’s baaaaaack! Melbourne’s annual Dachshund race is hitting Southbank this September – and it’s all for a good cause.

Hophaus Bavarian Bier Bar Grill and My Dachshund Online have come together again to bring eager sausage dog fans the inimitable Hophaus Annual Dachshund Race. This literal sausage fest held its inaugural bout last year to great acclaim, so the pups will be heading back to the Southgate Podium Level on Saturday September 24 for a race like no other.

Last year’s winner, the unbeatable Chilli.

This fun run will feature a lot of flailing tongues, confused little hounds and smiles all round as Melbourne’s cutest Dachshunds make their way down the 15-metre long race track. Heats for the race will begin at 11am with the final expected to start at 2pm.

Running as part of Hophaus’ Oktoberfest celebrations, the event will be raising money for Dachshund Rescue Australia.

In addition to the race, there’ll be a costume parade and competition, so if you’ve got a Dachshund whose short-legs and long body were born to be placed into a puppy-sized school bus outfit then register your interest and bring them along.
