Wish You Were Here: Thalia Haven, Tasmania

A bathtub with views to the end of the earth? Where do we sign up?
Sure, exposing yourself to a rugged Tasmanian coastline might seem a little brash, but when your neighbours are just a couple of hundred trees, a lot of water and a few animals, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. At Thalia Haven, you’re going to get a little more than acquainted with nature – you’re going to positively embrace it.
Located on a private little peninsula on Great Oyster Bay, guests at Thalia Haven will have access to four standalone cottages clustered around a stunning olive-tree courtyard. Step out onto your private balcony and you’ll be met with a stunner of a view too.
Rustic comforts abound with a massive stone fireplace, a fully-equipped kitchen, four bedrooms and your own complimentary stocked pantry with food for your stay.
It’s really all about getting off the grid here – with the next road about 2 kilometres out and no sign of civilisation, it’s almost like you’ve been teleported back a few decades when there was no W-Fi, no Facebooking and little to no distractions.
Instead, Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park will be your entertainment. You’re never too far from a cellar-door wine tasting either, with a number of vineyards littered across the way for you to wet your whistle.
