WA’s Rottnest Island Will Soon Be Home To A Glamping Eco-Retreat

It’s only 19-kilometres off the coast of Perth and home to Australia’s happiest little creatures – quokkas, of course – but Rottnest Island is about to become a go-to holiday destination in its own right with a brand new glamping eco-resort on the horizon.

Opening in late 2017, Pinky’s Eco Retreat and Beach Club will be glamping accommodation with a special emphasis on sustainable tourism. The resort will comprise of 29 four- and five-star eco-tents with ensuites, with options for families, backpackers and budget-friendly travellers.

The resort will also feature a Beach Club with a licenced bar, cafe, restaurant and function area. According to Pinky’s, the function are will be “built atop an elevated sun deck with breathtaking views back to the Perth skyline as well as west over The Basin towards the setting sun.” Bliss.

Rottnest Island boasts 63 – count ’em, 63! – stunning beaches, 20 Mediterranean-style bays and some of the country’s most dramatic landscapes. While visitors can do everything from stand-up paddle boarding to cycling, diving and swimming, quokkas are one of the biggest reasons people ride the ferry from Freo to Rottnest. This new resort will provide much-needed facilities to cater for visitors to the island, which is increasingly popular with both Australian and international travellers.
