Here’s How You Can Turn Your Summer Job Into A WA Adventure

Sure, you’re probably not planning any big overseas trips right now. But even though the future of travel is a little uncertain, there’s no reason you can’t enjoy a getaway this summer.

In fact, you could actually get paid to work and wander in some of the country’s most beautiful and exciting spots.

This summer, you could have the experience of a lifetime by working and wandering out yonder in regional WA. There’s a range of short and long-term jobs available in vineyards, hotels, orchards, farms, cafes and more.

You’ll have the opportunity to earn some money and then, on your days off, you could go surf world class waves in Margaret River, fish for the perfect catch in Exmouth, or bush walk in Pemberton’s stunning Karri Forest.

And, thanks to the new Primary Industries Workers Regional Travel and Accommodation Support Scheme, the government could foot the bill for some of your travel. At the moment, they’re covering up to $40 a night in accommodation as well as paying a one-of travel allowance for those who relocate to regional WA for agricultural work.

That means you could receive up to $3860 towards your travel and accommodation while you’re away. You can find out if you’re eligible on the scheme’s website.

As a bonus, you would be doing your bit to help out regional employers – they’re looking for workers to ensure we’ve got  fresh produce in stores and on our plates this festive season.

Not all the jobs require training or qualifications, but if you do need to upskill or retrain for a role, there are also a bunch of free or discounted courses on offer right now.

So, what are you waiting for? We reckon you should kick off your working holiday experience ASAP, because let’s be honest, you may never get this kind of opportunity again.
