Two Aussie Beaches Named Among The World’s Best

Condé Nast Traveller decided to poll their adventure-loving audience about where they think the very best beaches in the world are – and the results are pretty interesting.

Topping the list was the handsome El Nido beach, found on the picturesque island of Palawan in the Philippines. This under-the-radar gem is home to around 50 white sand beaches, all of which are found near dramatic limestone formations that make it feel like this deserted paradise was made just for you.

The poll revealed Hawaii to be the most #blessed by nature, with four Hawaiian beaches making it into the top ten alone. A little closer to home, Thailand’s Koh Phi Phi island and French Polynesia’s Bora Bora were both celebrated for their requisite white sand and incredible azure waters.

So how did Australia fare? Arguably one of Australia’s best islands, Fraser Island, snuck into the top 20 and we couldn’t be prouder.

Fraser Island, found just north of Brisbane, is World Heritage-listed for being the largest sand island in the world. It’s an adventure paradise that is covered with lush rainforests, natural swimming holes and a spot of natural wildlife. Not convinced? Just look at that water!

Better yet, Lord Howe Island’s Blinky Beach made it in at number 17, proving once again it’s Australia’s best-kept secret. Blinky Beach boasts an array of coral reef lagoons, hiking trails and a healthy supply of luxury retreats and yoga camps nearby. Plus it’s only a two-hour plane ride from Sydney or Brisbane. Honestly it begs the question – why haven’t you been to Lord Howe Island yet?
