Take A Peek Inside Mexico’s First Overwater Bungalows

There’s nothing that says ‘maxing and relaxing’ like a house on stilts above some turquoise water. This form of accommodation is famous in places like the Maldives, Tahiti and Bora Bora, and now Mexico has joined the party with the opening of its first overwater bungalow resort.
Located in Riviera Maya, the Caribbean coastline on Mexico’s northeastern Yucatán Peninsula, the bungalows at The El Dorado Resort look like something out of a tropical dream.
Imagine driving into the clearest ocean waters right from your own private water-top cabin. Add to that 24-hour room service and an on-demand butler and you’re seriously living the dream.
Within each bungalow, there’s glass bottomed floors so you can see directly into the aqua-clear oceans below, as well as a private infinity pool and a direct water access via a ladder.
There’s also an over-water restaurant, bar and spa, should you have the desire to ever leave your room. Perfect for couples, the romantic ‘Aguas del Amor’ (waters of love) outdoor shower is another feature of each suite, as is an indoor jacuzzi for two and a large sundeck.
Accommodation at El Dorado starts at around $1800AUD per night, and can only currently be reserved via Gourmet Inclusive Vacation Consultants.
