If you’ve been sitting at home, wondering how the hell you’re going to get your dumpling and kimchi fix in isolation one of Sydney‘s favourite Korean restaurants, Sáng by Mabasa, has the answer.
Like so many others, this Surry Hills restaurant has changed the way they do business, pivoting to a take away and delivery service for fresh and frozen meals. Here’s a menu for you to start planning:
It seems like everyone and their dog have taken up baking since social isolation has become a thing, but now all the stores are bled dry of anything resembling flour, maybe it’s time to try your hand at a little DIY kimchi?
Of course, Sáng is selling ready-made and frozen packets of both mandu (Korean dumplings) and kimchi-jjigae (kimchi-soup), so there’s always the lazy-man’s option. However, with all this extra time on our hands why not get around the $21 make-it-yourself kimchi packs?
It’s pretty perfect for beginners, taking the messy part out of making kimchi and giving you the perfect proportions of salted cabbage and chillies to combine with the kimchi mixture. Whack it together, leave it to ferment for two days at room temp, then boom — you’ve got kimchi.
Plus you’ve also got all that other delish Korean food you ordered and that makes a whole good time. You can never have too many projects at a time like this, right?
