On The Second Day Of Christmas, This Woman Found A Koala In Her Christmas Tree

All over the country, we seem to have thrown ourselves into the Christmas spirit with unprecedented enthusiasm. It’s a feeling apparently mimicked by one koala, who simply could not resist a fab Chrissie tree when he saw one.

A woman in Adelaide — probably the luckiest woman ever, and please can koala’s come visit my (very tiny) Chrissie tree too — had the pleasure of finding a wild koala nestled in amongst the baubles of the tree in her lounge room. So that’s it, we’ve found the best decoration, all the other can pack it in.

Very sensibly, she called the Hills Koala Rescue charity, who shared the whole thing in a Facebook post.

“This evening our hotline operator took a call. At first she thought she was the victim of a prank call,” explained the post.

“But no, a koala desperate to get in the Christmas spirit had wandered into Amanda McCormick’s house and decided it wanted to be the fairy on the Christmas tree. Amanda was not so sure and rang 1300KOALAZ for help”.

I mean honestly, just LOOK at the little guy clinging on to the tree in the same manner we’ve all clung onto happiness in a spectacularly rough year.

Koalas in particular took a particularly hard hit earlier this year during the horrific bushfires that spread around Australia.

The subsequent action taken to restore the koala population and regenerate the land destroyed by the fire was widely praised. In fact, it even gained the Community Restoration Award in Lonely Planet‘s  ‘Best In Travel’ for 2021.

So I think the little guy deserves to enjoy a little Chrissie cheer. Plus, I think we can all agree this is the best thing to happen in 2020.
