How To Go Glamping In Victoria Without A Car

Four great clamping destinations in Victoria:
#1 Castlemaine
Just under an hour-and-a-half by train from the city, and with two campsites within a 12-minute walk of the station, historic Castlemaine is the ultimate easy weekend away. The Big4 Holiday Park is right next to the pretty botanic gardens and a five-minute walk into town (where the delicious ice creams, farmers market and cafés are), while Castlemaine Central Cabin & Van Park is right opposite the IGA. Once you’ve settled in, take a ride on the Victorian Goldfields Railway and pretend you’re off to Hogwarts.
#2 Warrnambool
Plonked on the Great Ocean Road and just over three hours away by train, Warrnambool is your surf retreat without the surfboard (because who wants to carry one of those around anyway?). Conveniently, three holiday parks are located within a 15- to 30-minute walk from the station.
#3 Ballarat
Enjoy the conveniences of a city lifestyle with a charming, gold obsessed twist. Be prepared to walk or catch a cab to your campsite though: Ballarat’s Big4 Goldfields Holiday park is a 30-minute walk from the station. Then pay a trip to Sovereign Hill because historical reenactments are always hilarious.
#4 Macedon
Right next to Woodend (the home of Holgate Brewhouse) and Hanging Rock, leafy Macedon is also home to Macedon Caravan Park: conveniently located six minutes from the train station and an 11-minute walk from an IGA. It’s also just under an hour by train from Southern Cross Station. Easy.
