The World’s First Fully Accessible Water Park Has Opened In Texas

Visiting a water park or theme park isn’t just great for kids, it can be just as thrilling for adults too. While most of us are free to indulge in theme parks whenever we like, some have it a lot harder. So in today’s dose of heartwarming news, the world’s first completely accessible water park has just opened up in Texas.

Morgan’s Wonderland is a theme park in San Antonio, Texas that specifically caters to people with special needs. It’s the first of its kind, and has now expanded to include a water park too.

The splash park is called Morgan’s Inspiration Island, and has five play areas and a splash ride. The tropical-themed park was built with the assistance of doctors, therapists, teachers and parents to fully optimise the experience for special-needs kids.

For example, water temperature can be adjusted to assist any visitors with sensitivity to the cold. You can even rent a waterproof wheelchair, for wheelchair-bound visitors who are keen to partake.

Morgan’s Wonderland founder, Gordon Hartmann, says that his aim was to allow all kids to join in on the fun. “Those without disabilities and those with, including individuals in wheelchairs, guests with hearing and visual impairments and even guests on ventilators, will be able to play alongside each other and gain a greater appreciation of one another,” he said.

You can check out the park map to plan your trip here. It’s recommended that tickets are bought in advance, which you can also do here.
