Now for the 2020 live show you didn’t know you needed. This July, Australian fans of the late hip-hop titans Biggie and 2Pac can hear both rappers’ iconic songs performed by an orchestra.
An Orchestral Rendition Of Biggie vs. 2Pac will travel up our East Coast in July. While venues aren’t yet revealed, the run starts in Sydney, then carries on to Brisbane and Melbourne, before heading over to Auckland.
A collective called Alternative Symphony has created the show. They do this kind of thing often. The accomplished musicians present orchestral renditions of acts like Daft Punk and Fleetwood Mac across multiple continents, performing their timeless hits with trumpets, horns, strings, drums, live vocalists and MCs.
Alternative Symphony has also had success remixing hip-hop. Their recent orchestral spin on Dr. Dre’s seminal rap album 2001 has been booked everywhere from Wellington, New Zealand to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Victoria, Canada.
