A Yoga Festival Is Coming To The Outback

The red centre is where you’ll want to be in 2016 with the recently announced lineup for the Ayers Rock Resort’s 2016 events program which includes regular favourites and a few new exhibitions and activities. Our pick? An exciting new yoga festival that will be descending on Uluru in April.

There’s never been a more perfect time to say namaste to your amazing surrounds – especially when you’re amid the magical desert landscape of Uluru. The Desert Dreaming Yoga Festival will be hosted by yoga guru Denby Sheather and will allow guests to fine tune their chakras and salute the sun in the Outback. Traditional yoga, meditation, healing and whole food medicine will be the focal points of the six day festival which will take place from April 24 to 29 of next year.

The yoga festival joins a long list of excellent activities taking place around Uluru in 2016 – the ‘Field of Light’ art installation by British artist Bruce Munro will be illuminating a span of Outback from April 1 2016. Ayers Rock will also be hosting the third annual Tjungu Festival, a celebration of the best of Australian Indigenous culture through food and art markets, music, a short film festival, the AFL Tjungu Cup and loads more.

Other events include the Uluru Camel Cup in May, the iconic Australian outback marathon in July and Uluru’s Astronomy Weekend in August. For more info on all these events and specific dates, head here.
