A Japanese Train Has Replaced Walls With Windows & It’s Absolutely Glorious
Imagine gliding through the Japanese countryside in a see-through train cabin; snow-capped mountains to your west, glimmering lakes to your east. Well, imagine no more.
Comprised of a mere two carriages the, this new train, designed by Ichibansen, provides a point of difference from Japan’s famous Shinkansen bullet trains, which – despite being some of the fastest in the world – don’t leave much time for taking in the views.
Launched in the Niigata prefecture, the train has a mere 45 seats, ensuring a cosy, intimate and secluded journey through the stunning Japanese countryside. Along the way, expect to spy Mount Myoko, one of the region’s most beautiful mountains.
The train includes a french dining car, a panoramic viewing platform, and furniture made from locally-sourced materials to ensure they’re giving back to their community.
Fares start at $113AUD, while a package including a meal comes in at $160AUD. The views and ambiance come free.
