Look out Gold Coast, you’re about to get a new luxe hotel right on the water front.
Developers Aquis Australia have unveiled plans for a new $440 million hotel on a prime beachfront position in Surfers Paradise. The spot is said to span 70 metres beside one of Australia’s most famous beaches, with the new hotel set to become a benchmark for luxury accommodation in the country.
And yes, you read that right – six stars. Aquis Australia say the yet to be named property will be the first truly six-star beachfront hotel in Australia and target “super luxe” travellers from around the world.
“Our goal was to create a hotel that would become a destination in itself, something that is instantly recognisable and synonymous with luxury,” Aquis Australia Chairman Tony Fung says.

The 48-storey hotel is set to include 580 rooms and suites, five on-site restaurants manned by the world’s top chefs, a glass-bottomed hotel pool and a open-air rooftop cinema. The biggest draw is an Asian street-style food market which will be placed in the hotel’s atrium rooftop.
If the plans are approved, construction is set to start in 2018.
