These Are Facebook’s 10 Most Checked Into Australian Places Of 2015

What’s Facebook without a little bragging? Whether it’s a #nofilter sunset beach snap or a check-in at the airport, there’s something innate in us that just wants everyone to know we’re actually doing things and enjoying life and not, you know, holed up inside on a sunny day watching Gossip Girl on Netflix. Facebook’s latest Year In Review stats for 2015 confirm this; it seems Facebook’s 1.5 billion plus users love letting their friends know what they’re up to by ‘checking in’ to places on social media.

After crunching the numbers, the social media site has revealed the top 10 places in Australia with the most ‘check ins’ and big surprise – it seems we’re all big softies who love animals. Taronga Zoo, Melbourne Zoo and Australia Zoo in Queensland all ranked high on Facebook’s check-ins for this year, as well as a number of theme parks on the Gold Coast. Clearly we’re all still big kids who won’t pass up a good adrenaline rush.

Interestingly, all of the places on Facebook’s list were from the east coast of Australia, with four destinations in Queensland and three each in New South Wales and Victoria. Crown Casino in Melbourne took out the number one spot with the most check-ins in 2015, beating out third placed Darling Harbour who look our the accolade last year. Here’s Facebook’s top ten most checked in places for 2015.

#1 Crown Melbourne
#2 Melbourne Cricket Ground
#3 Darling Harbour
#4 Sydney Opera House
#5 Taronga Zoo
#6 Warner Bros. Movie World
#7 Sea World
#8 Australia Zoo
#9 Melbourne Zoo
#10 Dreamworld Australia
