Can You Guess The World’s Most Instagrammed Travel Spots?

Everyone loves a good travel Instagram post. These days, documenting an experience through photos and social media is often just as important as, well, experiencing the experience.

While some prefer to visit places that are less famous, many travel destinations are so popular that they spawn thousands, if not millions of hashtags and photo opps across the web. Now, travel website TravelBird has compiled a list of the 500 most Instagrammed tourist attractions across the globe – and the results are pretty interesting. Here, we count down the top 10:

#10 Oktoberfest, Bavaria

Germany’s favourite beer-loving festival is so popular that many visit the country just to attend the celebrations. More than just drinking, attendees clearly love to snap photos, with more than 2.26 million photos tagged on Instagram.

#9 Notre Dame, Paris

One of the world’s most famous cathedrals (and home to Victor Hugo’s famous hunchback), it’s easy to see why Notre Dame is so popular among Instagrammers. With the medieval structure, filled with stunning stained glass, Gothic architecture and beautiful sculptures, this place really is one of the most ‘gram-worthy buildings on Earth.

#8 Times Square, New York City

The very centre of the city that never sleeps, Times Square’s famous billboard advertisements, neon lights and overflowing storefronts make this one of the most vibrant inner-city Instagram hotspots.

#7 Big Ben, London

This famous London monument is synonymous with the city’s skyline. Interestingly, the clock tower itself isn’t actually called Big Ben; the name is attributed to the bell at the top of the tower, which is officially known as Elizabeth Tower.

#6 Las Vegas Strip, Las Vegas

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Unless you post photos onto Instagram, that is. One of the only man-made constructions visible from space, the dizzying lights of the famously sordid Las Vegas Strip is the perfect backdrop for millions of photos.

#5 Berlin Wall, Berlin

🇮🇱 A post shared by Elor Bahar (@elorbahar) on

Once a wall that divided a nation, the Berlin Wall now stands as a symbol of change, political resolve, and cultural togetherness. Over time, The Berlin Wall has also become a hub for artistic creativity, with murals, creative graffiti and large scale artworks decorating the entire wall from end to end.

#4 South Beach, Florida

More than Hawaii, Bondi Beach, the Bahamas and the Greek Islands, the most Instagrammed beach destination in the world is Florida’s South Beach, with almost five million tagged photos on the app.

#3 Walt Disney World, Florida

The first of two world famous, beloved Disney theme parks on the list, it’s unsurprising that the overwhelmingly huge collection of theme parks, water parks and resorts make up the third most Instagrammed  attraction in the world.

#2 Eiffel Tower, Paris

The Eiffel Tower is the most iconic landmark in one of the world’s most iconic cities. It wouldn’t be a trip to Europe without stopping in France for a snap, or to climb to the top and take in the Parisian views from up on high.

#1 Disneyland, California

The California theme park by far the most Instagrammed attraction in the world; while the runner up, the Eiffel Tower, has more than seven million tags on Instagram, Disneyland dwarves that number with close to 15 million photos tagged.
